Garmin GMR Fantom™ 254 Radar is a high-performance 4-foot solid-state marine radar designed to deliver exceptional target detection, situational awareness, and collision avoidance for serious boaters and offshore captains. With an impressive 250-watt output, it is one of the most powerful consumer solid-state radars available, capable of detecting targets from as close as 20 feet out to 96 nautical miles.
The radar features MotionScope™ technology, which uses Doppler processing to detect and highlight moving targets in different colors. This allows captains to quickly identify approaching vessels, track weather systems, or locate flocks of birds that often indicate feeding fish below the surface. The system also includes Auto Bird Gain, specifically tuned to help anglers find birds gathering on the water — a key indicator of active fishing areas.
For enhanced tracking and safety, the Fantom 254 includes MARPA automatic acquisition, allowing the radar to automatically track up to 30 moving targets without manual setup. Echo Trails display fading movement paths so users can easily determine the direction and speed of nearby vessels relative to their own.

Pulse Compression technology delivers high-resolution radar imaging while maximizing detection energy, and scan-to-scan averaging helps reduce sea clutter and interference for a cleaner radar picture. The Dynamic Sea Filter automatically adjusts radar gain to match calm, moderate, or rough sea conditions.
The radar integrates seamlessly with compatible Garmin chartplotters, allowing radar overlay directly on navigation charts in single-screen or split-screen modes. Safety features include customizable guard zones that trigger alerts when objects enter a defined area around your vessel.
